Information we collect
- Analytics data: aggregated usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location (city/region), device type, and referral source.
- Care Planner analytics: when you use the planner, we may log date/time, IP address, approximate country/city from IP lookup, device/browser, opened planner page, pet name entered, reminder signup activity, and saved reminder dates. We use this for security, troubleshooting, and planner usage statistics.
- Cookies & similar technologies: used for site preferences (like theme) and optional analytics. Affiliate product links are normal outbound links to Impact/Chewy.
- Chewy click records: when you click a Chewy affiliate link, we record the time, page, button label/position, Impact SubID, and approximate country, region/state, and city. The server briefly uses the network IP to determine that approximate location and may send it to the IP geolocation provider ipwho.is when hosting location data is unavailable. BestPetsCo does not store the full IP address, full browser user-agent, session ID, email address, pet/planner data, or URL query parameters in this click log. The log is used to compare affiliate reporting with real on-site clicks and is automatically deleted after 90 days.
- Messages you send us: if you contact us, we receive the information you include (such as your email address and message content).
How we use information
- To operate and improve the website (performance, content quality, and navigation).
- To respond to questions, feedback, or correction requests.
- To measure which guides are helpful so we can prioritize updates.
- To monitor Care Planner usage, protect the planner from abuse, and confirm reminder signup activity.
Affiliate links
