Bag size and dispenser fit are separate measurements
Earth Rated's published dimensions list refill bags at 23 × 33 cm, approximately 9 × 13 inches. The refill roll is about 2.36 inches wide and 1.22 inches in diameter, with manufacturing tolerances. Compare the roll with your holder's interior, not just the size of the unfolded bag.
The same guide lists handle bags at 34.8 cm tall including handles but 24 cm without them — approximately 13.7 versus 9.4 inches. That difference matters when estimating usable capacity. Leave enough clean material for closure instead of filling a bag to its top. A larger dog's waste and your hand size both affect the space needed.
How to compare value without misleading pack counts
Divide the actual bag price by the actual number of bags, and account for shipping or an unwanted holder. For illustration only, a $12 pack with 120 bags costs 10 cents per bag; a $24 pack with 300 bags costs 8 cents per bag. These are sample numbers, not current product prices.
Do not count a subscription-only discount as a one-time purchase price. For a holder bundle, ask whether you need the holder at all. For Frisco and other bulk options, compare the selected scent, dimensions and format with the smaller pack; the largest number on the listing may describe another variant.
Unscented, thickness and strength claims
Choose unscented if you do not want added fragrance; that does not mean the bag blocks all waste odor. Published thickness is a specification, not a result from our tear testing. For example, Pogi's classic product page lists 18-micron film and 9 × 13-inch bags. Confirm the chosen format's label rather than applying those specifications to every Pogi's product.
Inspect a fresh bag for damaged seams or accidental punctures before use. Material feel alone cannot establish leak resistance, and any bag can be damaged by sharp debris. Try a small pack before committing to months of refills if opening, tying or dispenser fit is difficult.
Recycled is not the same as compostable
Recycled-content claims describe what went into making a bag. Compostability describes breakdown under particular conditions. Neither word means a used bag belongs in curbside recycling or any available green bin. Pogi's sells a separate compostable line; an “unscented” selection alone does not establish that you are buying it.
The FTC's environmental-claims guidance explains why broad “green” claims and unqualified compostability claims can mislead. Check the certification and disposal instructions on the exact pack, then ask your local program whether it accepts both that material and pet waste. We have not independently certified any bag's compostability.
Earth Rated's disposal instructions direct used bags to regular trash and distinguish them from potentially recyclable packaging and roll cores. Follow local rules and designated park bins; do not put waste-contaminated bags into packaging recycling.
