BestPetsCo publishes independent, U.S.-focused pet product guides, comparisons, care explainers and planning tools. This policy explains what readers can expect and where the site's limits are.

Accuracy and source hierarchy

We prefer primary or authoritative sources when a statement affects health or safety: official product labels and manufacturer instructions, U.S. regulators such as FDA and EPA, and veterinary organizations that publish clinical or preventive-care guidelines. Retailer listings are used for availability and product details, not as medical evidence. Owner reports can flag recurring fit, durability or usability concerns, but do not prove that a product causes an outcome.

Health and safety content

Health pages provide general education. They are not veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment. A page should identify warning signs that need prompt veterinary attention, avoid exact medication or dosing instructions unless an authoritative source is quoted in context, and make clear when age, weight, medical history or local disease risk changes the answer.

BestPetsCo does not label content “vet reviewed” unless a qualified reviewer is named and the scope and date of that review are disclosed. At present, the site does not claim a veterinary review board.

Product comparisons

Comparisons explain the selection criteria and meaningful trade-offs for the category. Recommendations may consider label directions, materials, sizing, construction, cleaning, warranty, U.S. availability and recurring owner feedback. We do not turn marketing language or isolated reviews into fact, and we do not describe research-only work as hands-on testing.

Affiliate independence

Some shopping links can earn BestPetsCo a commission at no extra cost to the reader. Affiliate availability does not guarantee inclusion, order or a favorable conclusion. Editorial pages keep their safety caveats and alternatives even when that reduces the likelihood of a purchase. See the Affiliate Disclosure.

Dates, updates and corrections

A “Last updated” date is changed only after a meaningful edit to the main content, structured data or links. The sitemap should use the same principle; dates are omitted when a reliable modification date is not known. Prices and stock are not presented as permanently current.

Corrections are made when a factual, safety, attribution or link problem is confirmed. To report one, send the page URL, the disputed statement and a supporting source through Contact. Material corrections are incorporated into the page rather than hidden in a new publication date.

Guides use the collective byline BestPetsCo Editorial Team. The byline is an organizational label, not an invented person or credential. Individual contributors or professional reviewers will be named only when verifiable information is available and permission to publish it has been provided.
